Gearing up for opening up

We’ve moved in most of the initial gaming equipment and so forth, but we’re still stuck on the furniture problem. Many solutions are being attempted, but at the end of the day, Craigslist Free has turned into a spam-fest, and Freecycle is neat, but it’s no Craigslist. TV’s, on the other hand, may be en route. We have been working something out there.

I’ll post a list at the bottom of this post to things we need. But before I do that, I’d like to let everyone know that we’re having a cataloging party tomorrow, Friday, October 7. Bring a laptop and help us input all these games and systems into our initial listing. We’ll get some pizza and beers, and play a few games too.

Party starts at 5 PM and will run until at least 10 PM. We’re also planning on being in the museum from 10 to 5 both days of this weekend, but we’re not 100% on all those hours yet. Nevertheless, our phone works now! If you want to know if someone is in the Museum so you can come by to volunteer, call us at 510-788-5702 . If someone’ answers, there’s someone in the space.

Which brings me to the next bit of news: the call box downstairs now works. Dial #0230 to Museum, and someone will buzz you into the space.

Now then, the list of things we need, in order of importance:

Boxes and storage bins
Reusable zip ties
Small electronics lab-worth of tools
Beanbag chairs
Keyboards and mice (USB and otherwise)
Old iMacs
A small 19″ server rack
Ethernet cables and switches
First Aid Kit
Small refrigerator
And of course, all old gaming and computer equipment and games

We can offer a tax write-off for any of this stuff. Please bring it with you when you come to the space! And we hope to see you tomorrow.
