Our newest class kicks off on Saturday, February 8 at 4 PM. This free class will last 8 weeks, repeating Saturdays at 4 PM. Students will learn how to use Avid ProTools and PreSonus Studio One, the two most powerful audio toolsets in the music business. This is a professional grade course, so students must be at least 16 to attend, and adults are welcome. No prior experience is necessary, but you will need to commit to the full 8 weeks. There is only room for 5 students, and right now we have none. At the end of this 8 week set of classes, we will start over with a fresh set of students.
Please email alex at themade.org if you’d like to register to take our audio design class. By the end of this set of 8 classes, you should know enough about PreSonus and ProTools to be able to get an entry-level job with those tools. At least, that’s our goal!
We’d particularly like to thank our sponsors who’ve made this class possible. As always, Dolby Labs sponsored our classroom. But we really couldn’t hold these classes without the participation of PreSonus and Avid. Avid donated 10 copies of ProTools 10 to the MADE. PreSonus, on the other hand, donated a site license. That means if we keep expanding these classes, we’ll eventually be able to teach PreSonus to as many students as we can fit into a classroom. In a year or two, that could be considerably more than the 18 students we can accommodate now.
The reason we’re restricting this particular class to 5 students is two-fold. First, it’s an intense subject, which will require a lot of personalized attention from our two teachers. And second: we only have 5 midi keyboards! If we can get at least 5 more keyboards before April, we should be able to expand this class for its second running.
Finally, please join me in thanking Tyler and Jonah, our two teachers, and Steve Horowitz, our advisor on the class. Register now! The only thing you’ll need is headphones and the ability to show up for 8 classes in a row. We’ll take care of the rest!
