We’re still searching for a space. We’re leaning towards a smaller spot now, and we’ve begun to look in Oakland, where rents are cheaper. We’re still talking to both the City of San Francisco and the City of Oakland. The ViGaMus in Italy waited five years to get their building from the city in Rome. And while we have the patience to wait that long for an end-game building, we’re going to start with something significantly smaller in the meantime, while we push for something out of the cities. So, the plan is for something small right now. The 3rd and Market St. location, by the way, has a very well-heeled suitor at the moment, so we’re not pushing that hard, as we can’t compete with commercial interest. We’d still love to have the spot, but now is probably not the right time. And we’ve got a demoscene party in December we’ve got to accomodate! But more on that later.
In other news, we’ll be ushering a 10:30 AM trip to the Laney College Flea Market in Oakland. Folks are meeting up at 10:30 AM Sunday morning, at Lake Merritt BART, then heading out to the flea where there are always surprises for observant collectors. Bring your price guides and your good pair of eyes. Always plenty of good stuff to dig through.
If you’re wondering how you can help us out right now, our number one priority is finding a location. We need a physical space to start this wonderful journey. Until that happens, all we’ve done thus far is prepared for the voyage. The sooner we find a location, the sooner we set sail. And you’re all coming with us!
In other news, The MADE was recently willed a stack of adventure games. We’ll be cleaning them up and displaying them. Perhaps an evolution of Zork exhibit?
