You’ve been demanding it, and now we’re here to deliver it. Or at least, we will be on September 1. We’re going to begin hosting open hours, and roll out our Audio exhibit on that date, a Saturday. From September forward, we will be open from noon until 6 PM every Saturday and Sunday. You’ll be able to come to the museum and play classic games, learn about the history of videogaming, and members will be able to request games to play on site.
Of course, this means that we’re going to need to add to our pool of volunteers so that we can have plenty of staff members around to accomodate the sure-to-come influx of people! And that’s where you, the public, comes in. You know you want to volunteer to help the world around you. You’ve looked into non-profits, maybe you already volunteer somewhere. But wouldn’t you just love to volunteer at the videogame museum? We’re now seeking new volunteers to become docents, long-term, and to help us open the doors more often. Docents will staff the museum, answer questions, and generally make sure the game systems are working properly.
To volunteer, come to one of our weekly meetings, Wednesday nights at 7PM. Doors open at 6 for socializing, so come by and meet the gang.
You can also help us online, if you’re interested. We always need graphic artists and Web developers. In fact, we have a Web registration project we’d like to get started on as soon as possible, so if you’re a developer and want to help a good cause, drop us a line at alex(at)themade.org.
So, are you ninja-enough? Are you Whoopi enough? How’s your gaming kung fu? Come down to the MADE and help us out. You’ll be a real James Bond to us if you do.
