Dead Internet Theory: iMac LAN Party
Dead Internet Theory: Oakland Edition
An iMac LAN Party at the MADE
What if the internet was fun again?
Join us at the MADE for Dead Internet Theory: Oakland Edition, a Y2K-inspired LAN party celebrating old computers, weird games, experimental art, and the joy of being online together, in person.
Created by game designer and vintage-computer enthusiast Paizley Lee (Kidgrandma), Dead Internet Theory brings a rainbow of restored iMac G3s back to life. After traveling across the country rescuing these colorful machines and collecting the stories of the people who kept them, Paizley built a playable world inspired by the early internet, complete with hidden mysteries to discover.
Recently featured in the Los Angeles Times, Dead Internet Theory is part digital time capsule, part experimental art party, and part love letter to the strange, creative internet we grew up with.
For one night, the MADE becomes a place to explore old machines, play strange games, encounter interactive installations, and meet the people making weird things with technology today.
Featuring games and installations by: ✦ John Threat ✦ Dan Ruth ✦ Kidgrandma ✦ More artists to be announced!
Saturday, October 17 8 PM to midnight
Suggested donation: $10. Pay what you can.
Come play on iMacs with us. Bring your curiosity, your friends, and your early-internet nostalgia.
